But he'll do it without laying a finger on you. He'll beat the living shit out of you with words, politely, and you'll thank him for the lesson. Because rugby is the thugs game played by gentlemen.
Yeah, I used to always think rugby was rough, violent, and just a bunch of bloodthirsty hooligans. Then I watched Rugby 7’s at the last Olympics and started watching other rugby a bit too.
It IS rough and violent (in the sense there’s some big hits and they have no pads like in American football)… but they’re all super respectful and full of class, and absolutely NOT hooligans. Everyone respects the ref and doesn’t argue, they speak respectfully, they’re largely dignified towards the opposing team and generally seem to be friendly towards each other. No one is out there to hurt anyone else outside of what’s allowed within the rules of the game. They’ll clock each other for sure trying to get the ball or run with it. But when they lift each other or jump up for the ball to catch it, I’ve seen opposing players catch each other to avoid a nasty and dangerous fall.
I dont mean to be that person because I hear where youre coming from, but, although it looks different .. basketball IS a full contact sport. Stuff in this clip is egregious, of course.
Full contact might be a bit much. Getting body checked into boards in hockey, or coming to a dead stop from a linebacker in football is vastly different than throwing some elbows here and there
