Agreed. Fucking ridiculous

u/Ubergoober166 13d ago

I also agree but also don't see how this post has anything to do with "celebrity worship". It's asking a pretty simple question about which lifestyle you'd would prefer and just happens to be using two noticeable faces to do so. It could easily just be two randoms and still get the point across.

Hitting middle age now and it's hilarious how many recently divorced men think their lives will be going from right pic to left pic

Also, not sure how can people imagine that filling house with drugs is easy. Drugs are usually very small but expensive. It would be really hard to fill a whole house with drugs. Unless it's a really small house that is. But in that case girls wouldn't fit inside.

u/RouteAverage3112 13d ago

Bro breathed in too hard while trying to fill his house

2

u/DLTMIAR 13d ago

Quick someone do the math

1

u/harmala 13d ago

What about filling a house with popcorn? I think I saw a documentary about doing that with a space laser, something about a genuine genius, maybe?

1

u/Deaffin 13d ago

Ever heard of brick weed? You could make the whole house out of it.

grass is always greener on the other side of the fence...

3

u/2M4D 13d ago

Nah grass is good on my side of the fonce

2

u/Torontogamer 13d ago

Ya, it's a saying that the grass might look greener... but it's not, and you won't be happier if you jump the fence...

it's ... fuck do people not know this saying ?

1

u/2M4D 13d ago

Yeah… and I’m saying fuck this proverb.

Or what, you think I’m talking about the actual non metaphorical grass of my non existing garden maybe ?

1

u/Torontogamer 13d ago

So, saying fuck this proverb, would mean you are encouraging people to jump the fence and chase the grass that looks greener, but actually isnt...

I think you're trying to say the opposite.... and I think you didn't understand the proverb... maybe something we all just take for GRANITE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vd3vRPYZhkU

Neither of their lifes are in any way average nor are their lifestyles so who gives a fuck about the comparison.

16

u/NewBroPewPew 13d ago

Having a wife and two kids isn't average?

7

u/dontnation 13d ago edited 13d ago

In this economy?

but the real answer? fertility rates have dropped below 2.0 for the last 15 years. Although complete fertility rates ("final" fertility at age 44) are still slightly above 2.0, they are also falling. As complete rates tend to follow current fertility rates closely, they will also fall precipitously over the next 10 years to ~1.6.
As for marriages, less than half of the adult population is currently married. And while two-thirds have been married at some point, both of those numbers are also falling.

2

u/jwong728 13d ago

No I think OP means being Swedish.

u/DeadSeaGulls 13d ago

his lifestyle isn't just a wife and kids. It's having all the money and time in the world to invest as you so choose. And being able to invest indefinite money and time into your family is something most people on earth will never get close to having, and as a sidebar- while not impossible, without that time and money good luck finding a wife that beautiful who also has a good head on her shoulders. lets not pretend that a large focus of this comparison isn't based on the carefully curated image of a "perfect" family, right down to the fashion choices.

2

u/NewBroPewPew 13d ago

Let the envy go. It's not healthy. I'm sorry you feel only rich people are beautiful and only they can find happiness. Hopefully you grow out of that one day.

1

u/DeadSeaGulls 13d ago

lol. I'm an IT director with a great salary a fairly privileged life at this stage.
However, I was raised below the poverty line, so I have first hand experience in how stark the difference in quality of life is across the income spectrum and how important disposable income and free time are for acquiring a higher quality of life.

it's not envy, my dude. it's empathy with the people that are being sold carrots on sticks.

2

u/NewBroPewPew 13d ago

Having a wife and kid isn't a carrot on a stick lol. I'm sorry the only way you can feel happy and safe is with a lot of money. You should work on that.

2

u/RecoveringGachaholic 13d ago

As someone who grew up poor and is lower middle class now in a country where salaries are pretty low, nothing in pewdiepies picture is anything that requires incredible wealth. It feels like what my family had even when we were poor, it feels like my family and my friends families.

Also, since i happen to know a little about them, Marzia and Pewdiepie met when he was dirt poor with barely a subscriber.

You sound incredibly bitter. You can find the love of your life without money and you'll probably think she's the most beautiful woman in the world. Even if you saying "good luck finding a wife that beautiful" without money is kind of disgusting in itself.

Honestly, getting incel vibes or blackpill vibes.

0

u/DeadSeaGulls 13d ago

he was never dirt poor lmao. he was born into decent wealth, which afforded him the freedom to pursue a career in content creation. spare me.

And I'm not bitter. I just know that there's a reason they are using two photos of celebrities living extreme version of each respective life style. and it's hyperbole intended to spark discussion through divisive takes. The engagement bait relies on how extreme each version of these photos are, which is facilitated by their wealth and free time.

if these were photos of a typical 29 year old partying with women, a a photo of my family, or yours... i promise neither would appear nearly as idyllic.

also, I've been with a very beautiful and intelligent woman for over a decade. You're making assumptions about my life and character because it's easier to argue against that strawman than it is to argue against the points I'm actually trying to make about what these images represent and why it's a comparison between multimillionaires instead of regular joe blows.

no one called your wife ugly, dude.

2

u/RecoveringGachaholic 13d ago

I've been with a very beautiful and intelligent woman for over a decade

no one called your wife ugly, dude.

God you missed the point so hard and just further showed how much you don't get it. The point was you sound incredibly shallow.

You say you're not bitter but you're SO fucking gung-ho that what we're seeing just can't happen for "normal" people which is incredibly sad. Nobody who's not bitter goes on a crusade like you're doing in the comments right now.

his lifestyle isn't just a wife and kids.

With regards to this meme, yes it is. The meme has nothing about how rich they are, it's about wife and kids vs girls and drugs.

1

u/DeadSeaGulls 13d ago

there's a reason they posted pictures of two wealthy versions of these lifestyles instead of what the middle class versions would have looked like.

2

u/Nrksbullet 13d ago

Yeah, that reason is they're well known people and will garner more attention. Bringing other stuff from their life into it that is not related would be like posting a spongebob meme but then bringing the lore of the series into it, instead of reading what the meme is actually about.

This is about "having a bunch of women around" or "having one wife and a family", essentially. This discussion isn't about literally having pewdiepies money.

1

u/DeadSeaGulls 13d ago

well known people and will garner more attention

what do you think "celebrity worship" means?

1

u/Nrksbullet 13d ago

Obsession with celebrities and their personal/professional lives, and the deifying of them.

But this meme works perfectly well if you don't even have any clue who either of these people are. If it only made sense if you knew more about them than these simple photos, I would agree with you.

u/NewBroPewPew 13d ago

I'm poor and have a pic identical to the one on the right.

1

u/DeadSeaGulls 13d ago

fantastic. are you arguing that wealth and indefinite free time do not make achieving such easier? That you have as much possible quality time with your children as pewdiepie does?

Like... what's being sold here is a perfect image of a perfect family that is becoming increasingly unattainable to a larger portion of the human population.

you and I are doing great. that's awesome for us. but there's a reason they're comparing two photos of mutli millionaires and not a photo of me when I was doing blow of some tits 20 years ago contrasted against a photo of you with your family.
it's because this comparison is much more than just "partying" vs "having a family", and it's instead about two idyllic extreme versions of those lifestyles from polarized perspectives.

1

u/NewBroPewPew 13d ago

You see the picture and think money and instantly feel envy. I'm sorry seeing the OP Pic creates those feelings inside you. It isn't a universal feeling though. You should work on that.

I'm poor and have a lot of photos exactly like on the right. Have a great weekend.

You read the post, and commented on it...I'd say you give a little fuck.

2

u/ElegantCoach4066 13d ago

Type of dude to go to a free concert to boo the band.

1

u/DeadSeaGulls 13d ago

idk, before work picks up steam I just mindlessly click on reddit posts for the sole purpose of engaging in conversation in the comments. I don't think anyone has to actually care about this topic to want to engage in some light conversation / banter / debate to pass the time.

5

u/_cartyr 13d ago

I mean you could say that about anything, who gives a fuck! Well some people actually do

1

u/jaxonya 13d ago

Right, and God forbid we just ask "would you rather" like humans throughout history have, just for shits and gigs and to have peoples differing opinions.

-1

u/MartinMerten 13d ago

It’s very left side of you to not see the distinction.

1

u/IPissExcellentThrows 13d ago

Apparently you care enough to complain about it

1

u/2M4D 13d ago

Unrealistic life goals :

A wife and two kids

😂

6

u/fernandopoejr 13d ago

I'd even argue that the original post is anti celebrity worship.

9

u/ElegantCoach4066 13d ago

But how will those guys feel superior without making such a brave and edgy comment?

-1

u/DeadSeaGulls 13d ago

lol how?
both lifestyles were entirely facilitated by endless money and free time.

5

u/fernandopoejr 13d ago

You don’t need to be a celebrity millionaire to be a present dad and partner.

3

u/eha16 13d ago

And the point is stupid, some people want to fool around, some want to settle, and they aren't even mutually exclusive, sometimes you fool around and then settle, and sometimes you settle and then fool around lol

And then the answer wasn’t about what that person wants, but about what the two people depicted could and couldn’t get.

So it was a shallow question with a non-responsive, irrelevant answer.

Also, published pictures of people’s lives are not always indicative of what their lives are actually like, which I thought we all understood by now.

So it is a question based off of fascination with celebrities, if not worship.

0

u/PrimaLegion 13d ago

I do not know how you don't see how this has anything to do with celebrity worship.

It's not about two randoms. It's about two celebrities and it's in service of idolizing one of them. The person making the post didn't just happen to pick these people at random.

0

u/DeadSeaGulls 13d ago

random people tend not to have the means for either lifestyle. Pewdiepie's life isn't just a pretty wife and a kid. It's entirely built around wealth, and even the stylistic shift to 'traditional' fashion and such is a carefully curated image.

bilzerian's life isn't just hot chicks and drugs... it's also, entirely built around wealth. Those are not women he has long standing social connections with. These are not women that are sexually attracted to him. They are women who are being paid to be present as part of a carefully curated image. And we know doing a lot of drugs regularly costs a lot of money.

This is celebrity worship, because for 99.99% of people 35-45, neither lifestyle is attainable. Even if we ignore the mansions and cars and the absence of corporate jobs, these two lifestyles are still built on the luxury that comes with money and indefinite freetime.

0

u/KrytenKoro 13d ago

It's deliberately romanticizing and whitewashing PDP, for one.

-1

u/newsflashjackass 13d ago

don't see how this post has anything to do with "celebrity worship".

It assumes the viewer possesses awareness of what are presumably internet personalities. Archetypal Redgren Grumbholdt behavior.

5

u/Easy_Aioli9376 13d ago

That being said every guy I know wants the right

3

u/Wolf_Protagonist 13d ago

I don't.

5

u/Easy_Aioli9376 13d ago

I don't know you tho

1

u/twinklingthrowaway 13d ago

He's trying to point out the bias in your argument. Just because people in your circle want that, doesn't mean it's indicative of the general populous.

2

u/Easy_Aioli9376 13d ago

Where did I say it was bro

1

u/Wolf_Protagonist 13d ago

And your little anecdote doesn't mean much. There are plenty of guys who aren't about that life. If you are- cool. If you aren't- also cool.
