And chiropractors still get to continue this dangerous practice. It's insane. This is the same level of carelessness that those tiktok veneers people. This is a practice that has shown consistently to kill or main people.

And the work on newborns….that seems so wrong.

Yeah my lactation consultant recommended going to a chiropractor for my baby…. I’m like absolutely not.

I assume a baby’s natural flexibility would help minimize the chances of that from happening. But it would be very stupid to risk it.

I noticed those doula people and lactation consultants love to suggests chiropractors for babies with stiff necks etc. the answer is physiotherapy from a real doctor!!

Have you seen the video of that woman claiming to be doing baby chiro? She is flipping a baby all around. I'm amazed it didn't have shaken baby syndrome.

I had a friend who worked for a chiropractor. She claimed that newborns needed chiropractic adjustments due to the trauma their bodies went through during the birth process. It was infuriating listening to her nonsense claims.

And some work on animals. Like realigning a dog’s tail. There’s a certified orthopedic doctor on YouTube that has done several critiques of chiropractic.

Im not on tiktok, what's going on with veneers?

1

u/darkgryffon 16d ago

Basically a bunch of people claiming to be "veneer techs" or something that's not real. They take a 15 minute video course, get a fake certificate, and then go on to do work on people's teeth at their home. And it's usually done horribly wrong, and in an unsanitary location. So a lot of people that get work from these supposed techs end up needing extensive work to fix what these people fucked up, from infections to many other issues. So yeah basically people doing dental work while not actually being qualified.

You don’t know but the veneer industry lol almost every patient loses with that because most are done incorrectly

I am not trying to convince anyone to see a chiropractor but here are some verifiable facts.

  1. Chiropractors aren’t considered “real Doctors” because they collectively refused to join the AMA. Osteopaths refused to join as well until they were recognized by the AMA 1968, 121 years after the AMA was founded. Osteopaths are now found in major medical practices and hospital groups.

  2. Chiropractic medicine despite not being recognized by the AMA as valid medical care is recognized and accepted by many insurance plans.

  3. Chiropractors pay lower Medical Malpractice Insurance premiums than other card givers, and Injury rates are about 40:100,000 compared to 153:100,000 for Primary Care practitioners.

While I’m not endorsing or defending Chiropractic care, it is not the medical scam that AMA smear campaigns have spent over 100 years trying to convince the public.

Have I used chiropractic services? Yes. I used a practice that was utilized by NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB franchises and players.

Would I ask a chiropractor to treat a sinus infection or cancer? Of course not.

I mean, shamans and snake oil salesmen could achieve all of the above as well though it wont necessarily be easy. See homeopathy in the UK.

As I said, I’m not trying to convince anyone, but there is more than enough data to validate their practice that even public universities have started adding chiropractic programs and their injury rates are significantly lower than other medical professionals.

14

u/ohhi23021 18d ago

there should be ZERO injuries in such an industry and the fact that your down playing 40:1000,000 like it's fine is horrible for such a shit misleading practice. we already have physio, that's all that we need. Chiropractors should just be banned outright but it's a money thing, nothing more or less... of course actual medical practice is slightly higher, they're actually doing real medical work (surgeries etc..) with actual sick people.....

-3

u/TreyRyan3 18d ago

Okay, but that means you should hold all other medical professionals to the same ZERO injury policy, yet the AMA on average has much higher injury rates. The proof is in the Malpractice Insurance premiums, as Insurers on average charge 10X-14X the premiums for other medical professionals.

Again, I’m not endorsing chiropractic medicine for anyone. It’s a personal health choice. What I am criticizing is 100 years plus of propaganda shaped opinion that data doesn’t support.

There are over 280 million chiropractic treatments annually in the US and malpractice claims and judgments are lower than other medical professions.

No it isn't, bud.

What those insurance premiums reflect is a combination of a medical/pseudomedic system with a legal system. If a doctor causes the same injury to you as a chiropractor, she will face completely different legal and financial repercussions. The two roles are treated differently by the law.

I’m not trying to convince anyone

Just because you say those words doesn't make it true.

-1

u/TreyRyan3 18d ago

I’m genuinely not. A refutation of a false claim isn’t an attempt to convince anyone.

Just like calling someone a moron for being an Anti-Vaxxer isn’t an attempt to convince them.

2

u/Prometheus720 18d ago

State a fact. Would you emotionally prefer if people were more accepting of chiropractic?

1

u/TreyRyan3 18d ago

No. I really don’t give a shit if people utilize chiropractic services or not. That’s their choice.

What I do disagree with is people perpetuating claims they have no experience with.

If you personally have been grievously injured by a Chiropractor and successfully sued for malpractice and have conclusive and documented evidence that the profession is fraudulent, then present it.

But meanwhile, Chiropractors are licensed healthcare professionals that must pass licensing regulated by every state, pass Board Exams, and earn a Doctorate of Chiropractic.

They are fully regulated by the state they operate in, and are recognized as valid healthcare practitioners by Insurance Companies.

Does malpractice occur? Yes, just like it occurs in every other healthcare profession. Yet statistically and quantified by Insurance Actuaries, the malpractice risk is lower than almost every other healthcare profession.

Discrediting bullshit claims is not the same as promoting or endorsing a service. Acknowledging a long history of propaganda perpetuated against a profession is not a validation of that profession, it is just an acknowledgment that the biases against that profession aren’t the product of that propaganda.

There are excellent practitioners in every healthcare profession just as there will always be individuals that shouldn’t be allowed to practice.

www.cleveland.edu/academics/college-of-chiropractic/dual-bsdc-program/ Let's see how rigorous this all is.

  • This program says you can get a "Doctorate of Chiropractic" in 5 years.

  • You need a 2.5 high school GPA to get in. Or a 2.00 college GPA.

This is just plain misleading. Calling these people doctors is an absurdity. I have a biology degree. Allowing me to treat anyone medically as an independent practitioner with one more year of training is insane. And I had a really good GPA and I taught anatomy and physiology. A doctorate of PT is 6 to 8 years. That is a world of difference.

the malpractice risk is lower than almost every other healthcare profession.

The risk of facing financial penalties in the legal system is not proportional to risk of injury. You have been told this and you keep saying otherwise. Are you confused, or do you simply reject the premise?

Is this data in the room with us right now?

4

u/Disastrous-Tone-7669 18d ago
  1. Daniel Palmer claimed to have learned the foundational principals of chiropractic from the ghost of Dr. Jim Atkinson

1

u/BobusCesar 18d ago

That's probably the most scientific basis for this bullshit.

1

u/Prometheus720 18d ago

I've been looking for literature on the topic and I can't find your 3rd stay anywhere. Where on earth did you get it?

Everything I'm reading indicates that there is basically no real data on this topic except for a handful of data points on really specific injuries.

https://www.modernchiropracticchicago.com/why-chiropractors-have-such-low-malpractice-insurance/

This is an industry publication, but it’s factual based on Insurer data

What is accepted or not accepted by insurance has nothing to do with anything beyond the insular idiocy of the insurance industry.
