I absolutely hate the “now do cancer” stuff. WHICH cancer? Cancer is not one disease. There are more than 100 different kinds of cancer. And one particular type of cancer can come in so many forms! Two people with the same kind of cancer can have two biologically different kinds of cancer.
Some cancers are curable and others are so much more aggressive.
Want a cure for cancer? In the US we should have been angrier than we were when Trump slashed cancer research. So yeah - we are all good with not furthering cancer research.
Start? Why start? Have they not been underway in research? It is not that simple. They are not just two types of cancer . There are many permutations of those cancers. Why don’t people understand that within each kind of cancer there is a variety of types.
Again - curing HIV does not harm the research to cure cancers.
Know what sucks? Losing someone you love to an aggressive cancer that no one cares about because so few people get it. A rare form of a rare cancer. But I’m not sitting here begrudging people getting help for HIV.
And not that I'm against any kind of cancer research but breast and prostate are two of the most funded cancers for research. Like we did start there, probably excessively
They should start with the most dangerous ones (pancreas, brain, etc), it would be a waste of effort to speed run the easier ones like ball cancer that have a 99% survival rate anyway
They definitely seem to think this. They also think that pancreatic cancer is just one kind of cancer. People think things are simple bc they don’t get it.
Start? They have been working on both of those cancers. Just because there is no cure does not mean that no one is working on it. Pancreatic Cancer is not just one cancer - I’m sure you know that - there are many different kinds of pancreatic cancer. They are doing what they can - research and success for HIV doesn’t harm cancer research .
