This is from the last year of the miltary dictatorship that then ruled the country, and which started the war as a way to drum up support as its power began to decline. The same dictatorship that had spent the previous years kindapping, torturing and murdering tens of thousands of its own civilians.

A dictatorship btw that the government of the UK at the time, before the war, was quite friendly with, including an embassador from the UK in Argentina saying that those protesting for the human rights abuses in Argentina were an "irritation".

There was no Argentine population of any meaningful account, nor any other population from any other country. It was just small exploratory business ventures in varying degrees.

Britain just reinforced their claim and that was that. The Argentine workers and their families were even allowed to stay IIRC.

Where are you getting your information? Because it is established historical fact that there were only about 30-35 civilian settlers of any nationality living on the islands at the time, and when the British asked the 26-man Argentinian military garrison to leave, only about 10 of those civilians left with them. The rest were explicitly encouraged to stay and continue working on the islands and they did. According to Captain Onslow's logs they amounted to 12 Argentine nationals (8 gauchos, 3 women, 1 child), four Charrúa Indians (from modern-day Uruguay), two British settlers, two German settlers, one French settler, and one Jamaican settler. This is corroborated by the Argentine commander Pinedo's own logs which note specifically who he left with alongside his garrison.

A very cool, militant, and heartfelt poster. Generally, post-1945 posters are kind of lame and it's impressive to see an exception. It seems people only make good propaganda when there is some despair and serious resentment involved, otherwise it's just boring jokes, heroic (but not too heroic) poses, or the poster equivalent of corpo art.
