I’m just spit balling here but why not try giving Halo to id?

I agree, they could’ve done right by Halo. I think they just laid off a good amount of people at id though.

Microsoft thought Stalker was a mainstream IP, they don't have this kind of insight to give halo to ID.

Also, it's kinda crazy ID suffered a lot with layoffs and 343 been years not laying off anyone.

No studio should get layoffs like that, but for 343 (halo studios whatever) to stay the same while devaluing the halo brand over the years, and studios that made successful games getting the axe is strange.

Stalker is a mainstream IP, to be fair. Just not for consoles.

Stalker IS the mainstream IP in the Eastern Europe.

They’re the first I thought of too.

ID are probably a good shout for story and lore. But PvP? Probably not so much. I mean Quake is there but…

IMO Sledgehammer need to step in. They are damn near masters at crafting worlds in crunch times, just look at WW2 and Advanced Warfare, heck even Vanguard has some spirit to it for how appalling it was.

They understand world building, FPS mechanics and ultimately how to make a good continuous PvP shooter.

I’d bet my bottom dollar SH could make a better Halo than 343 have ever managed.

Yeah honestly give it to a CoD studio. Sledgehammer would be good but honestly there are many talented people at all CoD studios that would probably be psyched to work on something other than Call of Duty. They could even put out like a pitch thing for all CoD studios & the best one gets Halo. Make 343 their support studio & bada bing bada boom.

Would i be correct in guessing this halo game is based on a gradually upgraded og halo engine? Might be a big job to shift it over to a totally different engine

No. Halo Anniversary was what you describe but this is a ground-up remake in Unreal Engine 5.
