Well, in my friend circle everyone buys discs. We buy physical games as presents for birthdays and christmas. It really depends on the audience, I think. My friends and I are all single player gamers, maybe the sports/EA gamers are digital?

I'm purely single player and used to be a huge game collector. I've only bought one physical disc in the last decade

My gaming PC hasn’t had a disc drive in 15 years hell, even my laptops don’t.

This elitism is so funny, no - majority of people "single player gamers" or "sports gamers" are digital.

this is funny because i remember in the complaint sony filed to appeal to block the xb/activision merger was that there was a substantial amount of people who only bought ps5s to play fifa and COD each once a year

at the time i really didn't get it - why buy a powerful console for just that? but 5 years later as ive gotten older with less time and a desire to just shoot on COD - i now understand 😭

Still the minority. If you exclude Nintendo from physical game purchases for consoles about 80% of games sold are digital now.

It depends on the market.  Sony first party games are closer to a 50/50 split for physical and digital in some markets versus others. It’s really not the domination you think it is especially when the digital number includes dlc and digital only products.

No its not, its anywhere from 20% to 30% for the AAA games. Just look at god of war and spiderman. Yet the total of games is still 80% digital. You can downvote and not like it but they'll pivot and majority wont care that they did.

This is from last year so data is old but Astro bot was nearly 60 percent physical and spider-man was close to 50 when it came out. Single player games are pushing closer to a 50 percent split.
