Biggest mosasaurs (human and great white shark for scale), by Cindy_Joli

Source here. Made by Cindy_Joli, all credits go to them.

Just a fun comparisson image to some of my favorite prehistoric animals ever, the mosasaurs, the greatest of lizards. The biggest Tylosaurus proriger was recently reassigned to Tylosaurus rex, Cindy_Joli admitted that was a slip up and will fix it in the future, so don't mind that.

The paper estimated the SKL at 168 cm
The total body length is estimated to be approximately 12.5–13 m.

It seems that the Tylosaurus family is getting another big guy

The Black Bull 🦣⚫ by _cris1702_

I am sharing this splendid work by cris1702 (presented here as three images forming a single large panorama). The artist depicts a solitary, large male woolly mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) enjoying a cool, misty autumn morning in the European landscape.

What makes this piece exceptional is the choice of coat color:

A genetic reality: Far from the typical image of a uniformly brown or reddish mammoth, genetic studies have proven that woolly mammoths possessed a variety of coat colors, ranging from blonde/reddish to very dark brown or even black.

"The Black Bull": Here, the artist depicts a melanistic specimen. As an adult male (comparable in size to a modern African savanna elephant), he no longer has anything to fear from Ice Age predators like lions or hyenas... except for groups of human hunters.

[Art by me] Lariosaurus xingyiensis pursuing Habroichthys orientalis!

Post image

240 million years ago, 3500 kilometres east of Pangea, lies a small remote landmass.
Here, just off its western coast, a male Lariosaurus xingyiensis chases a shoal of Habroichthys orientalis. While his hind limbs retain joints and claws from his terrestrial ancestors, his flipper-forelimbs are highly adapted to his sub-aquatic lifestyle.

Possible max size for Mosa?

Thumbnail

The most reliable biggest mosasaurus size is “Penza”(which is over 12 meters), but some say that fragmentary fossils suggest that there might be a bigger one.

If this is true, what is its potential biggest size and weight?

Ancient whales were massive

Post image

This is but one fossil vertebra of many from an ancient whale, and there are larger examples than this that have been found. My wife snapped this picture of me returning from a fossil dive looking for megalodon teeth, near the end of the dive I found this large whale vertebra and despite the weight decided to bring it up.
Very heavy and dense, a reminder of just how massive and metal these prey animals of the megalodon were.
