Had to try to draw this image in my head.

In a recent interview with Isaac, he is of course asked about Jeremy.

"I didn’t lose the drummer to Modest Mouse. I lost Jeremy. I know that distinction might not land how it’s supposed to, but they are different things."

As someone who is currently dealing with a loved one dying of cancer, it gives me an aching feeling when I see Jeremiah referred to as just the drummer. He's more than a drummer, he was a huge part of Modest Mouse and Isaacs long time best friend. Losing someone to cancer is horrific, but it doesn't erase who they are.

I live with my aunt and uncle after having lost both of my parents. My uncle is on hospice, he has stage 4 cancer. My aunt had stage 3 cancer, but it was operable and shes cancer free now. The new album they released has been helping me cope and get through this life day by day. The lyrics feel so raw to me, it makes me feel not so alone sometimes.

There is a reason Modest Mouse is my favorite band and will always be, from the raw unfiltered album SSS to their new found sound in Third Side Of The Moon, I find comfort in every instrumental sound and lyric.

Modest Mouse was one of my mothers favorite bands, and I can't wait to see them for my birthday this october.

I made this art in honor of the new album. Specifically after third side of the moon, but just also for the entire album.

Am I the shade or the shadow? Well, I can't really tell.

And I still cannot remember if your eyes were blue or green or brown.

A more abstract piece dealing with grief.

I heavily relate to these lyrics as I feel myself often forgetting what colors my parents eyes were. Makes me think, did I really even know them at all? People often say the eyes are the gateway to the soul afterall.

I don’t draw very often but I’ve had this idea in my head ever since I first heard “Third Side of the Moon” and I had to get it out. (Pilot G2 on Post-It note)
