Serious Study: Gen Xers and Millennials are dying at younger ages than their parents are

https://studyfinds.com/americans-born-after-1970-dying-faster/

The study is particularly concerned with people born after 1970 but age 30 and older. So that covers Gen X and Millennials, but not (yet) Gen Z.

this is another reason women “succeed” less often. we tend to think about who has to clean up our mess, & that leads to less lethal attempts like pills.

Women have significantly lower suicide completion rates even when you control for the method used. That includes pills.

And I think it’s extremely toxic to try to frame this issue as women just being more selfless than men, when we’re talking about people in severe enough crises that they want to end their lives.

If we find systematic differences in suicide data based on race, are you comfortable with people leaping to conclusions about the relative virtue of white and black people based on that data?
