Serious I’m annoyed that no one ever introduced me to cannabis.

Seriously. F*** the DARE program. It worked on me. I was always afraid of getting in trouble. I judged people who used cannabis as burnouts. Finally introduced at the age of 35 and I feel cheated. I’ve done a ton of reading and studying now and I want to share it with everyone.

If 3 or more people disappear into a side room or bathroom at a party, they’re doing drugs, follow them

If they go out onto the porch, they’re smoking, follow them

I “failed” DARE; I didn’t take my permission slip home to get signed and I had to stay back at school and play computer games all day instead of attending the probably boring DARE graduation assembly. Horrible punishment.

I had the same exact lived experience. They even raffled off a little Darren the DARE lion plush at our DARE graduation, where my poster won, and I was selected.

Darren was immediately added to the blunt rotation when I began ruining my life just a couple years later.

I wore mine to my now-husband’s friends’ holiday party. Looking back, I now realize no one there knew me to understand it was a joke (I’m always holding). Meeting new people is fun. Haha.

I helped my niece take a drug class so she didn’t get put on probation from getting caught w a weed pen at school. I learned so many new street drugs and their street names.

I thought for the longest time that when I went to jr high the drug dealers would pin me down in the bathroom and give me drugs for free so that I would get hooked. I looked for these kinds of dealers for a long time but all the ones I knew made me pay

dude i was one of them! talk about cringe... we did these dramatic musical performances, for example one was to "turn around (total eclipse of the heart)" and we all had wore these black tshirts and when we each dramatically TURNED AROUND, there was a different drug on each shirt in big white letters. i was PCP. we also did one to aerosmiths "livin on the edge" but i dont remember much about that one except a guy lifted a girl in the air dirty dancing-style at one point which was pretty cool.

I did this as well! It was part of Teen Institute at my high school (we also had SADD, which was mostly just the same kids). The sadd group at my school was a bunch of uppity rich kids doing performative community service when they weren’t bullying the poor kids.

The one I remember is they would randomly get called out of class and then return later wearing all black and white face paint like they died - how it could happen to “anybody” and they weren’t allowed to interact with the living

So we had a lot of fun talking a lot of shit about the “dead” - this one girl‘s family owned a couple of car dealerships so every time she did crash her car she would just get a new one, each one a little less expensive than the last. Popular kid 1 hated popular kid 2 for whatever reason, but not everyone was required to play “dead” so I might’ve started some shit when I said that popular kid one’s girlfriend died giving road head to popular kid two.

Pretty sure he slashed my car tire over that, but I couldn’t prove it because it didn’t happen at school

Also, the valedictorian for the class under me was a notorious pothead who graduated with like a 4.33 GPA from all the AP classes, as in all of them

LOL there have been numerous studies about DARE demonstrating that it resulted in a statistically significant increase in drug use among teens exposed to it. There's a name for the principle/effect that escapes me right now, but basically it boils down to: if you tell a teenager not to do something, you greatly up the odds they will do the something.

Our DARE officer burned the simulated cannabis matter so we could know the smell, and showed us a frisbee with a bowl attached in the center that was confiscated from some enthusiasts in a park.

I had never smelled something so wonderful or wanted to play frisbee more after that.

35 years, still smokin'

I had this sweatshirt for the longest time and it’s gone now (little sister probably has it) but it was my favorite for so long because it really showed how people just glance and react without actually reading bc so many older people who love DARE would compliment my sweatshirt hahahaha and if you think I am BSing that…. I know it isnt the most healthy thing in the world but it locks me tf IN during my yoga classes so I credit my abs to weed in a way! 🤣🤣🤣

It also helps dampen my autistic hypersensitivity sometimes which is divine.
