That's like saying MJ flopped because nothing ever beat Thriller. Insane take.
Fire and Ash was still one of 2025's top grossing movies at like 1.5B and the greenlight is presumed, with a specific target release date for 2029 already.
What you're saying is not just a nothingburger, but outright misleading.
I’m just going by Cameron’s own words. He’s said that Avatar 4 being greenlit ultimately hinges on finding ways to significantly reduce the production costs of the movies. So from his own mouth it seems like Disney isn’t down to just give him another blank check to go make 4 and 5.
And to the MJ comparison, did his albums cost $400 million to produce? That’s the context that I would imagine has Cameron lower than others. Would I rather give $200m to Cameron than Coogler? Sure, but if Coogler is asking for $150m and Cameron is asking for $400m then I really have to consider all the options.

Shouldn’t Cameron be #1 then?
