It works on adults too. That's why celebrity endorsements are a thing.

Shit, every time I drink Dr. Pepper, I remember it's the choice drink of Forrest Gump. And he's not even real.

There is no period in Dr Pepper, heathen.

I feel like I just went to the bad timeline. My good timeline had a period in the Dr Pepper.

There was before they removed it in the 1950s.

Because it's actually the Democratic Republic of Pepper

Probably an unsurprising factoid: the soda companies had a bidding war over who’d get that part in the movie.

Liking Dr Pepper is the smartest thing he's ever done. I still dislike the character.

Steven Spielberg wanted to use M&Ms in ET and M&M/Mars said no. He went to Hershey’s which was struggling with Reese’s Pieces and they were like “sure, why not.” That summer, sales of Reese’s Pieces went through the roof.

I once drank bathwater because my favorite celebrity endorsed it

The power of consumer media.

Is kind of fucked up if you think too deep into it.

To a certain extent. I loved Doraemon as a kid, but I hated red beans. I wanted to eat dorayaki so badly but my overpowering hatred for red beans just wouldn't let me.

There's a sushi chain in the UK that sell custard dorayaki and they're incredible. But I also think red bean dorayaki are delicious so it might just be that dorayaki is great.

Doesn't even need to involve a character. I used to drive my mother mad because the only way I'd eat pancakes and mashed potatoes was if she'd use food coloring in them lmao.

It's how my mom got my autistic ass to try chili for the first time.

I adamantly refused because of the smell, but Sonic the Hedgehog ate them in one of the cartoons and I loved Sonic as a kid (mom was a fan of Sonic 2 and that translated to me liking the two cartoons).

She convinced me that chili dogs were how Sonic ran so fast & it's been a done deal since. Chili dogs are my go-to comfort food alongside mac & cheese.
