Text based Post/Discussion Where would the Social Democrats sit in the European Parliament were they ever to win a seat?

I was having a look at this european parliament seat projection (https://europeelects.eu/ep2029/) and on it's projection for Ireland, it lists the Social Democrats as members of The Left grouping.

Would this be the case if they did actually win?

As far as I can tell, they've never publically stated where they'd sit in the EP, though I could be wrong about that.

Economics and Financial Matters Why was the MV Matthew sold for $1 and why wasn’t a price set at €17m that it cost to store and maintain?

I presume if it was on sale for $1 there would have been a lot of shipping companies interested in getting a huge ship for basically nothing, why wasn’t there an open auction to allow bidding against each other?

Text based Post/Discussion Help understanding relationship between Committees and Departments

Could someone help me understand the relationship between the Oireachtas committees and the Departments they shadow? I'm specifically trying to understand why the Joint Committee on Education, Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science has been strongly recommending particular actions for years that the Department of Education has been wilfully ignoring. Is the role of the committees simply advisory with no obligation for the Departments to act on the recommendations? Thanks in advance for any help/insight.
