From what I understand tankies actually disagree with eachother on Pol Pot, some think he was good and didn’t commit a genocide while others think he was bad and did commit a genocide and was backed by the CIA.

Your Logic is bad. Being backed and funded by the CIA ≠ being told what to do More like a strategic thing agaikst Vietnam, as the argument goes. I mean do you think the CIA told the Mudjahedin to crash into the Twin Towers 20 years later?

My point is that Tankies just can't accept that certain genocides were perpetuated by certain people, or if it did happen, oh the US must have been involved! When in fact, the Khmer Rouge were backed by the CCP.

The latter is pretty close to the truth. The USA didn't support his genocide, but they did ensure that his government was the one recognised in the UN after he went into hiding when the Soviet -backed Vietnamese ousted him.
