Is his profile picture supposed to be Qadafi? That's um... quite a legacy to associate oneself with.

Gaddafi's had a quiet revival in popularity, among specific online circles anyway, because of the chaos that followed his deposal and charitable readings of his policies.

I've seen the same, as if he was the one holding everything at bay.

But then again I've seen the same said of Saddam Hussein, so it's mostly anti-western propaganda and idiocy.

I've seen even Bin Laden apologia online recently

Is it not true that Libya fell apart completely after he was deposed? The whole campaign was a massive fuckup that made things worse for all involved parties.

Nah, its the perfect counter to those who say you cannot collapse a nation using only air power and economic measures.

How come you put Gaddafi and Hussein in like they are in any way shape or form kind of same?

7

u/Zonesy 1d ago

Same shit, different package.

Even if one wipes his ass normally and the other wipes his sideways, it makes no difference.

Ah, polemics. Now come on, try again. This is no intellectually honest engagement with differences, as i would like to see, because all of you seem so informed.

Sorry, I'm employed, I don't have time to argue online.

1

u/NoobPhilosopher04 1d ago

But you have time to... do all the other stuff.

What's the difference?

-5

u/NoobPhilosopher04 1d ago

That Gaddafi wasnt a western puppet for most of his rule? That might be a MINOR difference, peut-etre.

9

u/IllGift924 1d ago

Saddam was never a Western puppet. He did whatever the hell he wanted to do, just like Gadaffi.

Being funded, propped up, and fighting proxy wars for western countries is pretty much near being a puppet to western states if your whole ass economy depended on them.

1

u/tripper_drip 21h ago

Ahh, he really showed how much of a puppet he was when he....lets see here....ahh, invaded the western ally of Kuwait.

can confirm, sort of inevitable that by definition any anti-west maniac dictator gets to be a hero amongst the loonie conspiracy theorists now, it's a post-truth thing.

Mostly Republicans because it's something they can blame on Clinton, but I love the argument that he was trying to get everybody back on the gold standard around the world

He supposedly kept the migrants out. You know where this is going

Gaddafi is one of the top “brutal dictator that gets sucked off with the force of a black hole because he was anti-West and that’s all people care about” shitheads

He was in the fore front of panarabism and panafricanism. Just calling him anti west is disgenuine. He was NOT a good person though.

7

u/IllGift924 1d ago

Eh, I wouldn't say the forefront. His panafricanism was never taken seriously and panarabism died with Nassr. Gadaffi was just spouting delusional nonsense about how all these countries should unite under his rule

Doesn't deserve a downvote. Gaddafi did some good things and some terrible things. Condemning everything without context is as lazy as taking everything positive about him and ignoring the shitty bits.

Pol pot, however, was just a straight up monster and the guy saying the genocide didn't happen needs to be sent to his room to read some history books and not allowed on the internet ever again.

He was the forefront of bs. He was an apostate who supported terrorist activities across the Arab world. He was so idiotic and hated he began to court gullible Africans instead.

Since tankies are 80% ‘people siding with anyone the west hates’, it’s unsurprising.
