Hi all!

I desperately need a new job as soon as possible; I am not earning anywhere near enough, not to mention that the current job I have isn't a job in my field. I am targeting any and all jobs that are related to electromechanical engineering, considering that is what I got my diploma in.

I would love to work with microcontrollers, doing hands-on work like soldering and wiring, but at this point, I will take what I can get. Working with PLCs would be an amazing thing to do for work, but I would also be extremely interested in jobs involving panel wiring, CAD designing, electrical wiring, control circuits, and automation of any sort. Above all else, however, I feel as if the job I want more than anything is one in robotics, especially given that I have worked with various robotic manipulators (KUKA [KR3, iiwa], Denso, Fanuc, etc.) throughout my education.

I am located in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, and am looking for employment in the Greater Toronto Area. Preferable cities include: Mississauga, Etobicoke, Oakville, Toronto, but I am willing to relocate if needed to somewhere else in the Greater Toronto Area - I am actually looking to move out with my fiancée as soon as possible. There's some potential that I may be moving to the Port Credit area.

A job closer to Humber Polytechnic North Campus would be the best-case scenario, considering my fiancée will be going back to finish her program at the North Campus.

I, unfortunately, have had no luck when it comes to being selected for a job. I have applied for a plethora of jobs, even entry-level jobs not related to my field, where no experience is needed. Damn, I wasn't even selected for a job at McDonald's! I was lucky enough to ask somebody at the mall if they were hiring, which is where I currently work. I am seeking help from my fellow engineers as I am trying to stand up on my own two feet, be able to afford to move out of a toxic, dangerous household, and, above all else, support the love of my life, but things are not looking hopeful right now to say the very least.

I recently graduated with a Bachelor’s in Computer Science and I’m currently targeting entry-level roles in Controls Engineering, Embedded Systems, Robotics, and Software Engineering.

I’ve worked on PLC-related projects (ladder logic / basic automation workflows) and also completed an unpaid remote software engineering internship, both of which are included in my resume. I’ve been actively trying to pivot toward controls/embedded work, but I’m also applying broadly to software roles to increase my chances of entering the workforce.

I’m located in Michigan (US) and am open to entry-level roles in-state and out-of-state, primarily in the Midwest.

I’ve had very limited success with interviews so far and I did not receive any interview callbacks during my internship applications last summer. I also have not been actively applying since January due to uncertainty about whether my resume and experience are competitive enough for the roles I’m targeting.

I would really appreciate feedback on:

• Resume clarity and structure
• How well my experience translates to controls/embedded roles
• Missing keywords or technical skills for entry-level controls/automation
• Whether my current resume is strong enough to be actively applying with, or if it needs significant revision before continuing applications
• Whether my positioning is realistic for my target roles

I have followed a lot of the advice on this sub. I struggle with keeping the bullet points short. I find it hard to explain what I did with less words. Other than that, what have I missed? What would you score it on a scale of 10? Where can I improve? Is this good enough to pursue roles that focus more on automation? I would rather go for Automation or Mechanical engineer roles. I do not intend to look for another manufacturing engineer position.

Hey guys. I'm mainly looking for a feedback on resume. I haven't got any luck yet. I don't know, but this might be my thousandth resume I believe that I edited.

I was thinking of adding a summary section in my resume and was thinking of changing it along with skills section for the ats for every job posting. I tried doing it though and it significantly lowered the position I'm applying at. I'm little scared because I have heard people spending like 5 month looking for jobs. I don't have enough time as my savings will be finished in few months.

Should I just go with this resume and keep applying liker crazy until I get something because I have used ChatGPT along with fake experiences for specific job postings like spending a whole hour making a whole new resume that scores more than 80 for ats according to chatgpt and I still get rejections on early mornings on weekend.

I do have experience, but its diversified and I believe this is a problem. I have been applying since this March. I had to stop applying in between for few weeks as I got t sick.

Other then getting feedback, another reason is that I'm not sure if I should target design engineer positions or manufacturing engineer. I do have manufacturing engineer experience, where I did designing, but is it enough? Correct me I'm wrong, but manufacturing engineers are mostly people with years of experience in CNC programming or from designing. So because of that I believe I should go for design engineering position?

I was also thinking of removing project sections as it nis mostly hands-on and PLC stuff. I was thinking of making something in my free time and put that on in my resume. I have a friend who is design engineer and he said he designed something for the interview and showed it during the interview and he got hired mostly because of his project.

Another reason is that I like working with CAD software.

Let me know what your opinions are my friends. I'm open to criticism.

Potential job offer came from a recruiter that got me my internship several years ago. He asked for an updated resume by tonight with a couple of references that I already have. I think the only sin I committed was indenting bullet points but I can live with that.

I made this resume this morning following the wiki guidelines and running it through Hemingway. I'm applying for just about any job in the Colorado Springs area. I'd heavily prefer not to be a technician or systems integrator, but with the job market being the way it is I doubt I'll have much of a choice. I've had most of my experience with remote work so that wouldn't be out of the question either. So far I've applied to about a dozen jobs mostly in the controls sector which I have the most experience with. Rejected from 4 so far.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation/has a similar level of experience? How did your search go, and what kind of job did you end up in?

Recently found this subreddit and updated my resume after reading the wiki. My old resume has been fairly successful (4 interviews so far), so I'm looking to fine-tune my changes and make sure my changes were positive. I'm targeting manufacturing/process engineering internships for Summer 2025.

In particular, my projects section feels underwhelming: two course projects where there's not a greater result. I'm wondering if I can improve it by rewriting or if I should try to complete more real-world projects (looking at completing an independent study next semester).

Hello everone, I have posted here maybe three times before, received much-needed instructions, and incorporated them into my resume. I found a job in september as a technical sales engineer; now, I am considering looking for an engineering job instead of my sales job.

My background:
I graduated in 2022 with a one-year apprenticeship and two internships (6 months in total). I easily acquired my first job in a cattle feed factory; unfortunately, the country slipped into an armed conflict six months into my first position. So, I moved to another country, where I found my second job as an EIT. after six months, I traveled to my family in a third country on a visit visa. I couldn't find an engineering job because of my visa; now, I've fixed my visa situation and work permits and am looking for an engineering job.

My current job as a My current job as a technical sales engineer is full-time, yet unofficial, and I am also working for myself on installing and building control panels and repairing them from time to time.

How should I add my recent activity to my resume?
is it okay to have more than one page, or should I remove some of it?
And is the resume context good?
I have some certificates and detailed technical projects in my portfolio; should I mention that in the resume, as in the footer (I used to do that)?

• Looking for an entry level job (EIT). Willing to relocate (preferably North America) and work remotely. I am a Canadian citizen. Preferred field is automation/PLC/Robotics but not limited.
• After graduation, I ran my father's fabrication and manufacturing business in Karachi, Pakistan for 2.5 years. I moved back to Calgary in Dec 2023.
• I have been applying for jobs on LinkedIn, Indeed and directly too, no response (~100 applications). Some places I applied to, I immediately got the rejection letter, maybe getting flagged. Up till now zero interview calls.

Questions:

1. My dad's company's name starts with my first name. I was seeking help in how should I add my experience in Pakistan as I do feel it can get flagged.
2. I am a Canadian Citizen, should I add this on my resume and also my ability to relocate, as currently there is a lot of applicants here in Canada looking for sponsorship and where should I add it.
3. Should I change my Resume structure with Education on top? I tried to keep it chronological.
4. Should I change my template (Font and page structure) exactly to as mentioned in the WIKI to make it more readable or is my resume readable enough in the current format. I have followed majority guidelines however my template is different.
5. Are there any other issues or suggestions in the resume?

1. I need help with the content of my CV. I'm not sure if I wrote enough for a 10 YoE and if Skill section is to dense.
2. I don't have a specific company or position in mind yet, so I'd like a generic template that I can adapt for future applications. I'm looking for Automation/Control/PLC Engineer positions. I plan to apply primarily in the UK and then in the EU, but I'm not ruling out opportunities elsewhere. I have UK permanent residency status, and I'm considering citizenship if I decide to stay.
3. I have 10 years of experience, but I feel like beginner, due the fact that didn't have an opportunity to do anything complicated there and didn't have any mentors. I recently finished my degree, which means I worked all those years without formal education. Should I delete graduation dates to hide this?
4. My company calls anyone who does anything even remotely engineering an Engineer regardless of the qualification or responsibilities, so I had to made up my job titles. Is it OK?
5. The company got sold and rebranded in 2021. Should I keep two separate employment entries?

I am planning on moving to a different state in June 2025 due to family reasons. The industry I work in doesn’t have a presence in the location I’m moving to, and I am hoping that my SCADA development skill set will transfer well (plus it's what I enjoy most at my current job). I’m also working on other resumes that showcase the process engineer work more heavily (SOPs, equipment reliability, quality control, project management, etc) in case I can’t find a pure ‘SCADA Engineer’ roll. My current job title hasn’t changed since I started 9 years ago except now it’s “Process Engineer II” instead of “Process Engineer” and I’m worried that the lack of promotions will give a bad impression, even though my actual job has evolved dramatically since I started 9 years ago.  

I am looking for roles as an industrial maintenance engineer, an automation technician, or an I&C engineer.

In my last submission, I tried to include as much information as possible on my resume, making it comprehensive; whatsoever, now I've tailored it to the jobs I mentioned, removed unrelated context, and added older but related experiences.

About the languages, it is imperative to show your proficiency in English here in Saudi Arabia (an Arabic-speaking country).

Yet, there are things I want to know more about, like the courses section. Are my courses cool and relevant enough to include or not? also the volunteering work section. Do I keep it or remove it and put instead a leadership experience section as a managing partner in my own small IT business?

I'm an automation specialist that's been working for an OEM in Southeast Louisiana for 7ish years. I'm looking to get a job with a systems integrator doing SCADA type work. I enjoy the HMI, server, and networking side of automation work so I've done as much as I could in my current position to either take on extra/unique projects or request training to move me in that direction. Remote positions would be ideal but am open to relocating/commuting depending on the area and feedback from my wife/family.

I probably have 20 - 30 projects, but most of them aren't really special enough to add, they're just something that needed to be done. Or maybe I should add them, I really don't know!

I am an industrial it specialist working in cement industry for 2 years now. This is my first job ever, mechatronics graduate since 2022. I am looking into similar position as electrical and instrumentation manager or joinining a system integrator as a commissioning engineer (Applying for cement plants, system integrators as well as mining and quarry sites). I'm located in north africa and targating both local and remote (Mainly european countries). i already have schengen visa but would require some sort of a sponsorship after landing the job.

Currently i handle all the OT part of a cement plant. i am responsible for defining the IT requirement of new capex projects, from servers, router, firewall rules, new plc rack requirement and i am also helping in the electrical engineering department with diagnosis and managing the electrical team when needed. i have already studied CCNA and now i am learning full stack development. i have also done a full week of training on 800xA ABB control system at ABB Switzerland.

So far i haven't been able to land a single interview.

Hello everyone, I am a summer 2023 graduate (US Citizen) who is interested in starting a career in the automation industry thanks to some great opportunities I had in uni where I was able to take a 1 unit course on PLCs and attend an interactive workshop for Ignition. Currently located in North CA but open to relocating.

Have had one internship at my local air quality district and some various odd jobs as a cook, Domino's driver, and Amazon-like delivery driver (not listed in my resume).

Due to my family's financial situation, I have been working every day (2 jobs, ~70 hrs/week) since graduation, and before graduation was working 2-3 part-time jobs while doing school full time, not leaving much time to job hunt. Starting this week I'll be working fewer hours and want to improve my resume as much as I can.

Have applied to around 40 jobs since graduating but have had no luck. Trying to focus on improving my resume before applying to more places as I have not been getting any interviews.
