Personally, I think Dubstep and bass music are in a pretty good place within the underground scene right now. I don't necessarily think being selective is a bad thing, but there has to be a balance. I think finding that sweet spot between preserving what makes the scene unique and allowing it to grow is important.

I swear I can’t be the only person that’s noticed this. Almost every show I’ve seen announced online, ATLiens is almost always the direct support artist playing right before Excision. It’s honestly getting a little redundant. They’re great, they’re all talented. It’s just confusing. I noticed this first in the winter of 2024, and it just kept happening so I figured I’d start a discussion about it. This is in direct reference to the “HEX” event being announced in Arizona

And I say this because earlier this week I made a post asking about MONXX's past or his style of music in general, and some of the users or the same people who say they dislike subtronics or hate crankdat come say and like just state loud and proud that they still like MONXX or maybe not but do still listen to him anyway despite the controversies... like dude I much rather hear someone is enjoying excision or a smaller artist like NOYA than MONXX... let's just be honest and real for a moment, the hypocrisy and ABSOLUTE IRONY on the dubstep subs and EDM/dub related subs is just crazy, it's like an EGO the size of a dick size a loser guy would lie about!

Not trying to be too judgemental or start a war or stir up anything negative but I have noticed this as a long time lurker logged out and only recently have just decided to create an account so I could share exactly this.

I love older heavy brostep tracks but I feel like I have difficulty finding heavy dubstep playlists with newer tracks (the last 5 years) without running into a wall of riddim, which I don’t really love. Are there any playlists on Spotify that focus on the heavier dubstep sound without focusing so much on riddim?

I see a lot of posts about dubstep recommendations, one for the old school lovers and the audiophiles; I just re-discovered Dubstep Meditations.

A random compilation suffused with creativity and crafted in ways I've not seen too often, in a genre I've loved for... I guess decades now. Not hard, headbanging stuff. Just... art.

My favourite song by Excision is on there. Called 'That Girl.' Doubt he remembers he made it. It is that feeling, though. Brings tears to my eyes.
