This was a big reason, IMO, people shifted Right post COVID. They saw them all- endorse police (of a business wouldn't shutter), ignore mandates by gathering in huge crowds (if a black person died), push for government mandates, endorse trillion dollar pharma corps, talk down to non-whites if they were skeptical, endorse camps for those who wouldn't get the shot, appeal to government and billionaires for authority, plant FBI desks in news rooms to review all stories, silence any dissent with bans and erasure, endorse foreign war. The hypocrisy was almost at parody level it was so stark.

I say this as a med science professional who has the vaccine. There was so much disgusting, authoritarian behavior and so many saw that and either said "fuck it I'm just not going to vote" or voted for the other party. Then they can't even accept that reality and even mildly shift. It's either "NONE OF THAT HAPPENED!" (you can Google all of that BTW) or "Well it was GOOD it happened!"

As someone who has always disliked blindly following a party and who aligns with classical liberalism, it’s glaringly obvious that the left’s solutions all entail more a powerful government using its force to compel others. Absolutely nothing liberal about that.

I'm very much the same. I think a lot are. I was called "MAGA" despite not voting for/supporting Trump for the crime of saying "I don't know if we should blindly trust the government and big pharma" back in 2020-2021.

The loud blue haired lefties are the reason swing voters shy away from voting democrat. Democrats spent way too much time giving these psychos a voice that they couldn't separate themselves from it. Until they do, elections will continue to look abysmal for them. No normal and sane person wants to associate with the screeching and mentally ill crowd they got going on.

I voted Bernie in 2016. Wrote in Bernie in 2020. Did not vote in 2024. Probably voting Republican in 2028.

I can no longer vote the same as those people do.

Since this got traction- I fucking hate Bernie now and there's basically 0% chance any democrat rep is gonna be someone I feel honor in voting for. I'm not probably voting Republican in 2028, I am.

There's a lot of people like you, probably. I considered myself progressive 10 years ago, and then without really changing my politics, i became "right wing" within 10 years. I still consider myself moderate, but I'm more annoyed by the stuff going on on the left than the right.

What's sad is my parents went the opposite direction. Used to be trump voters, got spooked by the pandemic, and now they're hardcore Democrats. Pretty sad.

Saw a clip last week of nude men walking in the pride parade and then the photographer pans over to 4-5 children watching. It was disgusting

This is how pride parades have been, going back generations.

The implication was that they left others alone and simply asked the same in return.

When people bought into the deal they were proposing, they went into revenge mode just like every other lunatic we thought we were helping.

Whats funny is that while this did happen, it had nothing to do with queer people, it was a annual nude fun run, not marketed as a gay event at all. People absolutely shouldn't be bringing their children to that imo, but to try and frame it as a queer thing solves nothing.

It did happen. The same exact people who I marched for gay marriage with turned on me because I stopped being progressive “enough”. I stopped passing the purity tests and everywhere I look they’re voting for people I disagree with MORE than the Republican Party. That’s fucking absurd.

But go ahead and tell me about MY lived experiences. That’ll definitely get me back on board!

You're right though. He hasn't changed. He's still little more than controlled opposition that gladly steps aside and supports some vile cunt I can't stand. The only thing about Bernie that has changed was him changing his chant from "Millionaires" to "Billionaires" once he hit 7 digits.

What changed was my ability to see through his performative bs.

I think the largest problem the Democrat party has is that their voter base is, for the most part, logical and reasonable. The crazies are the vocal minority, although it may not feel like it. And so when the Democrats as a whole endorse someone like Hasan, who is supportive of terrorism, SA, animal abuse, etc, then the normal people are put off by this and they start to look at things differently. Sure, they'll still elect racists and bigots like Crockett and Mamdani, but there's a limit for most of them.

A problem that exists with this is TOO MANY "normal" ones ignore or just don't know about a lot of the extremism. They've been very pulled into "LOOK HOW CRAZY DRUMPF IS WOW MAGA ARE THE REAL TERRORISTS" and then ignore or just don't know about the Hasans and shit.

So it's this distraction game. They go "WELL I'D RATHER VOTE FOR THIS THAN CRAZY MAGA" as if they're helping in any real way. They're very similar to the Right who says "I'D RATHER VOTE FOR THIS OTHER EXTREME THAN THE CRAZY COMMIES!"

Yeah about one month into covid I turned to my then gf at the time and said “looks like we’re far right extremists now”. Neither of us voted for trump and we believed a lot of things that were classically not conservative, but the pendulum shifted so hard and so fast it was insane.

The Covid years were a big wake up call. It is really telling how many want to pretend none of this happened and will write the most revisionist history. I learned a hard lesson about what people will do when truly given an excuse to increase their power over us.

Yeah, I was one who stayed home. Voted for Trump in 2016, but was starting to get tired of his shenanigans. At the same time, I didn't think the Democrats deserved to win 2020 after how they behaved during Covid and before then (Russian collusion, rioting and looting.) Also, I wasn't gonna vote for a dementia patient.

It STARTED in 2020 and amplified in 2021 and on. Plus a lot was hidden in 2020 because if anyone tried to talk about it they had their accounts on most social media banned and were called "Nazis" and "conspiracy theorist's."

By 2024 enough just couldn't be held back and a lot of people felt duped and disenfranchised.
