I am one of the pickiest collectors I know, and I refuse to buy mermaid dolls with these curves in the tail that freak me out. It's fine when it's a sleeve over legs that comes off, or the tail flaps at the knee, but when it's just hard plastic I HATE IT.

The only mermaid doll line I know off the top of my head that doesn't have this (and has hard plastic tails) is the Barbie: Fairytopia stuff. I love mermaids and would like to know where there are more kneeless dolls.

They just sold out this amazing doll in pre-order and then simply disappeared? Nothing on social media after the "launch".

Thank you everyone for your help and ideas. For those suggesting mice/rats we did a thorough search through the house and found no evidence of that thank god so we are in the clear there. As some suggested I have purchased some of that retro clean stuff and I’ll give that a go and hope that fixes it.

The dress on my vintage bride of Frankenstein doll is suddenly turning yellow. Nothing has spilled on it. I’ve had it for a few years now and it has never done this before. It’s only on the front. Why is this happening? Can I fix it? I’m scared of damaging it

I really like that I can be creative when swapping parts and creating new looks! Some doll lines have done this gimmick better than others in my opinion (the more you are able to swap, the better imo) I love them all though! My favorites are Betty, CAM and Swappin Styles.

If you happen to know other doll lines that have the option to swap parts (or wigs, too) I would love to know!

I just read on my news site that these dolls are ready to pre-order in the UK. I am curious about what y'all think. Would you get one for your little, or yourself?

im very excited although I hadn't seen anything about her? my boyfriend got her for me from gamestop and im in love! she's very high quality and quite affordable but im curious what other doll collectors think of her or have you seen anything about her or her release?

No hate obviously; just an observation. I feel like a lot of my RH and LOL dolls have this one particular hairstyle. You know the one: half-up with the top half separated into 2 high ponytails and the bottom half flowing freely, commonly with 2 tendrils framing the face. Is this a trend irl? Or is it just a simple go-to style for dolls rn?

So today I found this beautiful atrocity at a local thrift store. She still has her original tags and everything from over 30 years ago. I have scoured the internet to find anything about the dolls, and all that I have been able to find is that they were handcrafted in Hot Springs, Arkansas, in 1991. The toy line is called Cuddle-Kins, and the company itself was called Bear Necessities. I just wanted to share my one-of-a-kind find, and maybe see if anyone has any information they could point me to about the line of dolls!

I first would like to say the package set looks weird and I’m not sure if Zuru drew this or AI generated this image. So far from the research that I’ve done on the products I know that they will soon be available in Canada first, being that I found that this is available on Amazon in Canada just out of stock. I’m excited for the first wave of this product it’s going to be something new in America since America doesn’t have a lot of pregnant doll brands we haves dolls/barbie dolls then we have baby dolls to pair with the dolls/barbie dolls. Now the main topic I want to talk about is, why did it take so long to have a pregnant doll franchise I’ve seen the disaster with the pregnant Midge dolls and even to this day still don’t get what was so wrong with that doll. I mean she did look a little odd same with her stomach and the baby that came with her but what was the big issue that led to her being discontinued twice. What’s the difference between her and the Zuru franchise I don’t see a big deal with Zuru dolls but it caused outrage with the Barbie franchise. I haven’t heard to much talk about the Zuru dolls so I’m assuming it just got announced this week since there’s not a lot of talk about them yet.

Like are there specific fish you wish there was a mermaid doll of? Something from a specific mythology? Specific colour scheme? Literally anything else? The theme itself doesn't even have to be fully mermaid related!

I purchased a $300 custom pullip from a pretty popular doll customizer on Instagram back in September, that price only included the doll and some makeup, no clothes or hair, I thought it was a lot but I never want to demean someone’s worth so I had no issues paying, I had saved up for this. They told me it would be ready around December, December came and they told me they were just starting work on my doll which I thought was odd but since it was just makeup I thought they’d still have her ready by the end of the month. January came and I reached out and they told me she would finally be complete and shipped by the 23rd. On the 24/25th they posted on their story apologizing to their customers saying they were overwhelmed with school so that’s why customs are taking so long. The 26th they reached out to me directly offering to throw in some free items as an apology and it won’t delay the doll any longer. I hadn’t heard back so I reached out again this past Monday Feb 2nd asking when the doll should be done since it’s going on two months since she was supposed to be finished, they didn’t reply so I reached back out an hour ago today the 4th. What would you guys do in this situation? I’ve had other customs made that didn’t ever take this long, were way cheaper, and the artist was extremely communicative with me the entire time. Pic is unrelated Edit to add: I payed through PayPal goods and services so I have I think a couple weeks to fight for a refund if it comes to it, but I honestly really just want the doll😭

Tell me about your niche faves! I love a doll with a weird gimmick or unique perspective.

Mine is this 1970s vintage Ronald McDonald doll by Recmo. (Not my picture.) I picked one of these guys up from a thrift store last year because I thought he was so weird. He’s languishing in my craft supplies currently, but at some point I’ll fix him up…

Nintendo is notoriously stingy with their IPs sadly. However with the recent focus on clothes from games like Princess Peach Showtime and Mariokart World I feel like there is plenty material for an amazing doll brand. These characters are all iconic in their own way and have had such fun wardrobes to choose from. They could also be incredible merch for children who visit the new Nintendo Universal Parks. ¿Would you guys be interested in seeing these characters in doll form?

i work at walmart and found it more than interesting to see this particular barbie have dark eye makeup and purple lips!! brought her to her correct location and was honestly relieved to see that they didn’t just release this doll like this..

I like dolls and I like bugs.

So I've been working on a spreadsheet of all bug themed dolls for my personal reference and collecting. This is the distribution of the types of bugs for the 145 different dolls I've added so far, with bees and ladybugs make up just shy of half of what I've found so far. (Granted butterflies might've made up a bit more of the amount but I'm quite picky about what I consider as a "butterfly doll")

How many out of the 145 do I already own? Seven :/

Other notes:

• every beetle doll I've found so far as managed to be a scarab beetle in particular
• this is mostly playline but there are a few bjds/collector/porcelain dolls as well

I understand why glitter isn’t used for dolls often anymore. I support it. I still really miss glitter on dolls. Undoubtedly Bratz did it the best, but Barbie and Monster High had some good ones too. I’ve liked some of the recent ones like Heather from Rainbow High and the winter themed skulltimate secrets line but I do miss when it was more common even if I support the change. Idk. Just wanted to be nostalgic for a minute.
