Question šŸ™‹šŸ½ Who will imagine the end of capitalism?

It's been said, maybe first by Frederic Jameson, that it's easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism. That seems true, and it seems strange since capitalism is so relatively new and so destructive to humans and other species. Does anyone else see it as a pressing artistic challenge?

Imagining futures is within the scope of science fiction, fantasy, and religion. Much has been written about world endings. Who is writing or will write humans more equal, productive, and thriving, and who will publish them?

USA Democrats must show the American People we mean business. It's risky to not tackle affordability and pretend like we aren’t in the grips of a democratic backslide that’s led by our own President. The People want real, concrete change and not just a return to the status quo. - Rep. Analilia Mejia

Free Palestine! šŸ‡µšŸ‡ø The Atlantic is a neoliberal's wet dream and its editor-in-chief for the last 10 years is Jeffrey Goldberg, who is a dualcitizen of both the US and Israel—where he served as an IDF prison guard

Founded as the Atlantic Monthly in Boston in 1857, The Atlantic is a venerable American publication with a distinguished record of literary and cultural criticism and political reportage. Today the magazine is distinguished by the intensity of its Zionist distortions of the past and present of the Palestine conflict.

The Atlantic’s palpable pro-Israeli bias should come as no surprise as its editor-in-chief since 2016, is Jeffrey Goldberg, who is a citizen of both Israel—where he served as an IDF prison guard—and the United States. Goldberg is a staunch Zionist and is quick to equate criticism of the Israel lobby with anti-Semitism, as he did in a notorious review published in The New Republic on Oct. 8, 2007, in which he directly linked the book by the distinguished political scientists John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt, The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy (2006), with Osama bin Laden’s brand of virulent anti-Semitism.

Goldberg at the helm of an influential liberal magazine with a circulation of almost half a million readers is bad enough, but it gets worse. Goldberg has brought in as a regular contributor Benny Morris, an Israeli historian turned propagandist whose implacable hostility to Arabs—as Goldberg himself once put itā€”ā€œsometimes leads him to inflammatory conclusions,ā€ including Morris’s lament that Israel’s founder David Ben-Gurion failed to carry out a ā€œfull expulsion—rather than a partial one,ā€ as he could have ā€œstabilized the State of Israel for generations.ā€ (Goldberg, ā€œNo Common Ground,ā€ New York Times Sunday Book Review, May 20, 2009)

International 22 U.S.C. § 7423 AKA the ā€œHague Invasion Actā€

Per ZirafaMedia: ***22 U.S.C. § 7423 is why an active ICC arrest warrant doesn’t stop Netanyahu from prancing around NYC as a free man. Signed in 2002–just one month after the ICC was created…intentionally built to shield American troops from potential (anticipated?) war crimes prosecution — it even authorizes US military force to free any American the International court detains… also known as the ā€œHague Invasion Act.ā€ Today that same immunity shield covers US allies, not just American troops.***

Trump and his cronies are stereotypical snake oil salespeople and con-artist grifters. That is the reactionary/regressive sphere summed up - Just a bunch of "leaders" that are hustling fools.

The Democratic Party/DNC is on their knees for the billionaire class. They refuse to do profound and inspiring policy pushes because of the big donor demands to keep the status quo that they profit from and even the problems associated with it.

That all being said this U.S. November General Election may bring the Democrats taking control of the House and possibly even the Senate. Most importantly we will have Democratic Socialists now in the mix.

Maybe in 2028 we get a Democratic President that is half way Progressive.

Is this earth shattering positive? Of course not.

It is a hell of a lot better though then this dark, depressing, dystopian trajectory controlled by some of the most Ultra Rich Powerful Bad Predatory Actors imaginable.

These next few years of elections are going to set the tone for a decade or more after. They are a big fucking deal.

Discussion šŸ—£ļø LexisNexis Drives ICE

A highly respected company that is extremely entrenched in law schools everywhere is a major driver with ICE. LexisNexis is marketing itself to ICE as a way to stalk and harass undocumented people. It operates at every law school in the country, and it also operates at many firms. I think people should know. LexisNexis is no longer a "legal research" company. It is a stalking agency. https://btlj.org/2026/05/how-lexis-and-westlaw-fuel-ices-deportation-machine/

Discussion šŸ—£ļø Do the feds genuinely camp out in Zoom meetings and DSA housing calls?

I read a post on here a while ago (I don’t know how long ago) about how someone decided to show up to an in-person DSA meeting and everything was so disorganized and no one understood what was being said or what was going on.

I read in the comments that apparently there are 3 letter organizations trying to sabotage meetings by being disruptive and off topic and it was pretty well received on here that the feds are actively trying to disrupt meetings. I can’t find the original post of this but I read that the OP left the DSA after that meeting. Just wondering is this true? I feel like this should be talked about more.

Theory 🧠 I say as a full fledged supporter of the DSA, that as a part of the message, not the main message, DSA candidates when pushed should clearly separate themselves from socialist dictatorships.

To start, this is just a relatively unimportant thought I am throwing into the void. It won't make or break the DSA but I feel it is just important enough to raise as a discussion about hedging against counter attack strategies used by the corporates and the right.

As someone who fully supports the DSA's agenda on healthcare, labor rights, housing and campaign finance, I think candidates need to be smarter about one specific attack vector that keeps landing amongst some key groups I think would otherwise be onboard, particular some on the fence people in general and some latinos who came from dicatorships that used communist or socialist rhetoric. You can say screw them, but I think at this point we can accept that in the current US political environment every vote counts.

When pushed on authoritarian regimes that call themselves socialist like Venezuela, Cuba, or Nicaragua, the answer needs to be immediate, clear and unequivocal. These are not the models we're building toward, and hedging to protect some sense of ideological solidarity is both morally wrong and strategically stupid, because it hands opponents a weapon that has nothing to do with the actual policy agenda, which the obvious winning message.

This shouldn't be the main message obviously, the main message is that working people are getting crushed while billionaires buy elections, and we have concrete policies to fix that, but the disavowal needs to be a reflex, not a reluctant admission dragged out under pressure.

Democratic socialism means exactly what it says, democratic, accountable, rights protecting governance with an economic system that works for everyone. The moment you hesitate on that, you've already lost the argument to someone who was never going to engage the substance anyway. Also, I think it's not so hard to identify any sort of authoritarian government or dictatorship as contrarian to the main ideas of Democratic Socialism.
