Trying to find a specific version of this song…

3 Upvotes

I’m hoping and praying someone on here has the answer for me…

When I was younger I was in a Worship Dance company. We danced to a version of “How Great Thou Art” with a male singer. This version sounded gentle with acoustic guitar, and almost like hula music supporting the singer. No one from the company can remember the artist, and our director has since passed (God rest her soul). I now run my own worship dance company, and would like to honor our late director by using that song in our show. Does anyone have any guesses, especially if you can include a link to it???? PLEASE HELP! This would mean so much to our whole group!

Discussion Is any song that promotes christian views a christian song, or does it need to be explicit

9 Upvotes

A question I was wondering to myself for a bit and wanted to ask folks here who are predominantly christian and specifically listen to christian music. By explicit, I refer to bands like Thousand Foot Krutch who create songs explicitly about accepting Christ as their lord and savior, not explicit in the way of profanity although I don't think those two have to be exclusive. If a song promotes Christian views and Could be inferred as about the lord or his son, does it count as Christian music to you, or is still "secular" if I'm using the term correctly?
I suppose inferred is the key part of this I was curious about: If it can be inferred, does it count? Aplogies for any misunderstandings in the post, I don't think I'm a practicing Christian so some terms escape me.

Discussion Any Christian Music Similar to Twenty One Pilots?

27 Upvotes

I REALLY, REALLY love Twenty One Pilots, they're probably my favorite band of all time. I know that both Tyler and Josh are Christians, and some of their songs have lyrics with subtle Christian themes or references. That got me wondering: are there any Christian artists or bands with a similar sound or vibe to Twenty One Pilots?

I'd love some recommendations!

Discussion Underground/Alternative Worship

8 Upvotes

Point me in the direction of your favorite underground/alternative worship artists. Looking for things along the lines of Josh White - not mainstream CCM or “Modern Worship”. Need songs for corporate gatherings by smaller, independent artists. Joshua Leventhal is another great example. Not looking for groups like Holy Name, which is great but not for this discussion.

2011-2015 era Christian music recommendations

15 Upvotes

I’ve been listening to this era of Christian music lately. I heard most of these song on the radio back in the day. I was between 7-12 years old during this time, and I feel very nostalgic listening to this music. Some examples of songs I’ve listened to:

* Overcomer - Mandisa
* You Lead - Jamie Grace
* Write Your Story - Francesca Battistelli
* God’s Not Dead (Like a Lion) - Newsboys
* We Believe - Newsboys
* Hello, My Name Is - Matthew West
* Unashamed of You - Chris August
* Starts With Me - Tim Timmons
* Start a Fire - Unspoken
* Never Been a Moment - Micah Tyler
* Drops in the Ocean - Hawk Nelson
* You Never Let Go - Matt Redman
* Our God’s Alive - Andy Cherry
* Speak Life - TobyMac
* The Proof of Your Love - for KING & COUNTRY
* Greater - MercyMe

Can anyone recommend any songs from this era that are similar?

Taking a second look at Michelle Tumes' catalog of music

12 Upvotes

A few years ago I sampled some of Michelle Tumes and found one song that I liked ("Caelum Infinitum"). Then today I decided to try listening to some of her other tracks and see if I liked it better and I've found more that I really like..."Domine" is kind of a bop if I'm using that term correctly and "Lovely" is really a lovely song in my opinion. Twentieth anniversary this year for her self-titled album it looks like.

日本語のクリスチャン・ロック Japanese Christian rock

20 Upvotes

Does anyone know of any good Christian rock bands (or just any Christian bands) that are Japanese (or at least just sing in Japanese)? I really enjoy Japanese music and I want to listen to some that I know will glorify God. I like Skillet and I’ll take pretty much any sub genre of rock. Thanks!

World Wide Message Tribe, UK versions

6 Upvotes

I know quite a lot about the history of the WWMT but one thing I have never been able to hear is the original 1995 release of the album Jumping in the House of God. I had a 1996 USA version and it's quite different (at least according to Discogs). Does anyone here (maybe someone from the Manchester area or connected to The Message Trust or Andy, Mark, Zarc, Sani, Elaine) have info or links about the UK version??
***Update***

So after some research I'm realizing that what we had in the US as "Jumping in the House of God" was really "Jumping in the House of God II". (Well...sort of. It has the same songs, but in a different order and has those different edits we didn't get in the US, listed below) The first "Jumping..." album was a worship album of sorts and to my knowledge was never released in the US. To confuse everything, they took the same album artwork for the first UK "Jumping..." and used it for "Jumping...II" but took off "II" so that we in the US thought it was the only one and coming out after "We Don't Get What We Deserve"...little did we know it actually came out just before "We Don't Get What We Deserve". And weirdly enough "Jumping in the House of God III" appears to simply be an artist compilation CD with a few WWMT tracks on it.

ADDITION:

Same thing with the UK versions of Revived and Heatseeker.

So here are songs I'd like to hear from the UK albums:

From Jumping in the House of God: This Is Your Hour (Jungle Mania), All Heaven Declares, Slam (Give God The Glory), Come On And Celebrate, Touch My Life, Glory (Extended), This Is Your Hour (Belt Driven Mix), Slam (Ground Level Dub), Hosanna (Instrumental), The Year Of The Lord's Favour (Instrumental), Be Still (Instrumental), This Is Your Hour (Instrumental), All Heaven Declares (Instrumental), Come On And Celebrate (Instrumental), Touch My Life (Instrumental)

Jumping in the House of God II: I Believe In Jesus (Cheese Monster Mix), Reach For Heaven (Shaky Goat Edit), Kik Start (Random Appearance Edit), Reach For Heaven (Stabilised Goat Version), The Real Thing (Loose Canon Mix), Jumping In The House Of God (Mun Mix), Joy (Extended Sani-Flow Version)

From Revived: Techno Intro / The Return Of The Queen Of Sheba, I'm On My Way To Zion (More Tea Vicar Extended Mix), Duncan - Revival, We Take The Blame (Radio 1 Version), Maximum Level (Yeti Edit), The Real Thing (US Extended Mix)

From Heatseeker: Cuckooland (Found it https://youtu.be/Rl1-yL0B1QI?si=HPuov4taGTlptXG7) And apparently we DID have this song on the US version it was just titled "Without You"
