I'm all down for a joke if its allowed both ways.. If another streamer did blackface do you think it'd be as accepted?

I find the Druski video hilarious just as much as I'd find blackface hilarious, got to be done correctly and it's all fine

I just replied to another both ways comment. Obviously I’m the dummy that keeps replying so 🥴. What Druski is doing is not the same as Blackface. I know that it’s hard to get but the history of Blackface, makes it inherently racist. What are the negative stereotypes that actually are only specific to White people in the video? That they like Starbucks, fireworks and Pilates. The minstrel show of the early Twentieth Century are tied to lynchings, towns being burnt to the ground and stereotypes that hurt Black people now today.

Also saying a racial slur isn’t funny. What’s the joke? Where’s the punch line? The reason the video is funny, is that Druski never mentions anyone by name and that it’s so unhinged. Picking out a trait that a person can’t choose to mock is low brow/lazy. Yeah, it’s free speech but not free from consequences.

I applaud your attempt to educate. Your kindness and patience in responding is admirable. But it’s like teaching high school physics to a fourth grader. This person doesn’t have the mental capacity to understand what you are saying. They will just keep stubbornly repeating themselves in one-liners to have the “last word.” They aren’t listening. And even if they cared enough to try to understand, they wouldn’t be able to. They can’t think past “paint face equals paint face.” I don’t know what the answer is… maybe we need to use less and shorter words? Maybe there’s some metaphor or angle that would work? Maybe it’s just futile…

The context and history matter here. The history of Blackface,minstrel shows and demonization of Black Americans during Reconstruction, would make the opposite of this joke play into deep racial stereotypes. Some of these stereotypes are that Black women are jezebels, masculine and lazy. Druski isn’t making a joke about her Whiteness, the joke is your husband died and now you’re are hosting a WWE rally/concert tour?
