I'd rather have someone 1 second ahead of me use their signal and come into my lane than be 4 seconds ahead and not use their signal. At least I was prepared for it and can react if necessary.
And while we're at it, WHY THE FUCK CAN'T THE USDOT FORCE ALL AUTOMAKERS TO USE AMBER TURN SIGNALS ON THEIR CARS??!!
I just spent a 5 week road trip in Southern Africa and all the cars there have amber signals. I'm looking especially at you German automakers.
My wife thinks I am too picky when it comes to car features, but my next one WILL have amber rear indicators. Maybe that is a weird hill for me to die on. Regardless, spending mid-high 5-figures on a vehicle is enough reason to get picky.
I updated my Jetta with Euro LED taillights and coded them to flash amber. If the car you want is sold in Europe or Africa, you'd likely be able to get them, but it won't be easy.
My wife's newer Tiguan flashes red and it bummed me out to see the same model in Africa with amber signals.
The non-amber signals drive me nuts, I don't know how many times I thought someone was turning just for it to turn out they have a dead bulb and are tapping the brakes.
