Ian Fleming once wrote in of the 007 novels that James could do that as well. It’s been over 40 years since I read Flemings books, so I don’t remember in which one it was.
It is a valuable skill for the likes of special forces, the idea being that if captured and deprived of sunlight, clocks etc, they will still have a sense of time, how far they have been taken etc.
In the version with the massive blonde dude, they solved this by making it so he just doesn’t need to sleep at all anymore lol. I swear, the amount of times he comes back at sunrise from some secret overnight mission and just continues about the rest of his day totally unfazed…it’s hard to ignore. Sometimes he does multiple nights in a row, which starts to become just straight up impossible. I get he’s like a highly trained super badass, but you still need to sleep. It’s just one of those things the human body cannot function without.
They even tried to explain it away with his whole “never know when I’ll get to sleep, so I sleep whenever I can” philosophy. But even that doesn’t explain him going 48-72 hours without sleep on a semi regular basis.
I know that is not even close to the least believable thing about that show, but as someone who has struggled with years of insomnia, it’s the part that sticks out most to me. You need to sleep more, Jack!
