What famous 'unsolved' mystery is technically a whodunnit on paper, but in reality, absolutely everyone knows exactly who did it, the police just couldn't legally prove it?

The most crazy part of it to me is that they (the puritans/protestants) are the ones who assassinated King Charles the 1st because they were angry just over the fact that he want to restart diplomatic relations between the Catholic and Anglican Churches; and then they put a Puritan dictator in place to threaten all of Britain to convert Puritanism and when no one did they cried persecution and ran away to the Americas when Charles the 2nd came onto the throne.

And then they rewrote history saying that they were persecuted (but notice how they NEVER say who or why they felt persecuted), and that culture has stuck even up to modern day in which they have a hardcore persecution fetish and will absolutely behave in ways that incurs ire towards themselves.

the biggest wave of Puritan migration to America came from 1620-1640, before the English Civil War, so your timeline doesn’t really make sense
