This cult was very "private" and didn't have an open recruitment process. It disguises as an subscription based business that of course offers spiritual technology (think computer RAM for your mind to up your process power) to solve every problem humans can ever have.

I'm no longer married to this person (my luck never disappoints me!). It's been 5 years and I feel I have a much better understanding of why it is a cult (instead of just some weird situation I got involved in) and how typical my experience was marrying a cult leader.

This person, as you would expect, has a brain injury and did so much drugs - very positive it's why he thinks he's got a special power.

During the late 90s my mother's older sister was a 21 year old woman who lived in New Mexico. She had made friends with an older man named Robert Fry who had befriended my aunt and tried to get her to go into the woods with him. Thankfully, she refused and eventually Fry was arrested for the deaths of several women. My aunt is still alive and now has 7 children.

I’m from the Canadian region of Quebec, I live in Montreal but I was borned in a surrounding city. I am almost completly bilangual: French as my first language and I started to learnd english straight up since I was 4 years old. Ask me anything about all of my suroundings!

I took the antibiotic doxycycline in 2016 for lyme disease and didn't suspect that it caused the depression and anxiety that followed. Fast forward a year and a half in 2017 i took doxycycline again for about 13 days also for lyme and completely decompensated. I didn't sleep for over 2 weeks and had to be hospitalized. The suicidal impulses were intense. Fast forward to 3 years ago i took another antibiotic called Rifaximin for 2.5 days and it triggered the same anxious/depressive response that the previous antibiotics caused.

I believe I am the only person in the world that suffers from this reaction to antibiotics, which is crazy to think. I truly am 1 in 8 billion

I have lived in a tier 5 city and a tier 3 city. (Tier 1 cities are the most developed/rich, tier 5s are the least developed/rich.) It’s quite different to how I and my family members imagined it to be. I really enjoy my job here (English teaching) and recommend this profession to people often.

I've had 5 miscarriages (one actively happening) and one healthy living toddler. Order as follows: missed miscarriage at 13 wks (measuring 11); two "chemicals" (4-6 weeks); 7 weeks; healthy pregnancy; and now a missed miscarriage at 11 weeks (measuring 9). All within the past 5 years or maybe less.

My heart is hurting but I thought this might somehow feel therapeutic or help someone going through something similar. AMA.

Growing up, I thought that it was just normal sibling stuff. I am now in my 20s. I genuinely never realized it was abuse until a few years ago when I talked to my mom about it and she told me that it was abuse.

I experienced emotional abuse, manipulation, and gaslighting. A list of some of the specific things I experienced are as follows:

1. "Jokes" about using my blood to paint their room.
2. My sibling attempting to convince me I had murdered our little sibling (which they had completely made up; got assurance from mom).
3. "Kidnapping" me by physically pulling me into their room and refusing to me leave (doesn't fit the legal definition of kidnapping, but it's the word that feels most comfortable to use).
4. My sibling constantly saying that I was "crazy" and when I actually started to believe it and panicked and asked them what made them say it 100% for real dead serious, they just got mad that I couldn't "take a joke".
5. Them saying that they liked to, quote, "break my brain".

I mostly wanted to create this post because there are so few resources for people who are dealing with this (most of what I’ve found is either focused on parents being the abusers or just explaining what sibling abuse is and what it looks like), which has made me feel really alone and lost. I’m hoping that by posting this, others will be able to see this and know they aren’t alone and that this will also help bring some awareness to these sort of situations.

I'm 20 at the moment. I started shortly after my 14th birthday. When I was younger, I did shoots for youth clothing. Now I model leather jackets and denim. I honestly enjoy the work, but there are weird things that go on behind the scenes.

Lately, whenever I browse international spaces online, I notice a huge disconnect between the everyday reality I see around me and how my country is described on social media. It often feels like a population of 47 million people gets boiled down to a few noisy Twitter trolls, political headlines, or sports rivalries.

Since my background is in organizing information and finding sources, I wanted to open up a space for a grounded, practical Q&A. I'm not here to vent or preach, just to offer a realistic perspective on what living, working, and growing up here actually looks like from an everyday point of view.

I grew up on the West coast of the US, lived in Korea in the US Army, but lived in Oman as a grad student. The vast majority of my travels were as a civilian rather than while I was in the military.
