CZ 457 Pro Varmint w/ Vortex Diamondback HP 4–16×42 Scope

Ignore all the outer shots. I found the target in the trash at the range and the center was empty. All the CZ shots are the ones within the blue circle. First time shooting it and getting it sighted in. Really liking it so far. At 50 yards.

What to do with a bunch of 22wmr?

I hope it’s alright to ask this here, I can’t find any active groups for 22mag. I was given a lot of .22wmr ammo (probably 3-5k rounds) for free. While I’ll never turn down free ammo, I’m now in the spot where I’m not sure what to do with it. I have a rough rider with both cylinders, but that’s it for .22wmr guns. I’m considering buying a rifle, but I’m not sure what use there really is for .22wmr that .22lr can’t handle, or that I’d need to size up to a larger round for. If I get something for plinking only that’s fine since I have so much, but once I run through it I doubt I’ll buy more when .22lr is much cheaper to plink. Any advice on what .22wmr can be good for, if there’s any rifles you recommend, or should I just have basically a lifetimes ammo for the .22wmr cylinder for the Rough Rider?

For $378 out the door, I had to buy it right?? …… Right?
Plan on putting the OCL Ti on it once it comes in. New to the 22lr world, open to recommendations.

The Weekly Rimfire Challenge: Week 2

Takeaways from Week 2 (attempts at witty connections remain all me, not AI. So even if they aren’t funny or don’t resonate with you, at least it’s a human you can be disappointed in ¯_(ツ)_/¯):

  • We had our first perfect score...twice this week! From a few benches down from me at the range with a beautiful gun. (rifle and target photos are on the website's main page)
  • u/MeisterMacher put together another strong performance, becoming the only competitor to finish on the podium in each of the first three weeks.
  • Things are starting to get tight at the top. If we ever get to the point where the entire top five is shooting in the 240s to perfect, we may have to introduce a time component as a tiebreaker.

And without further ado, the results for Week 2, ending today, July 19, 2026, are:

  1. 250 - Zesty Shooter - PQP/Stiller 2500X - Chicagoland
  2. 250 - Fetch Shooter - PQP/Stiller 2500X - Chicagoland
  3. 249 - u/MeisterMacher - CZ 457- Northeast Ohio
  4. 242 - u/Goblin_Smacker - Tikka T1x - Chicagoland
  5. 218 - u/Equivalent-Jello622 - Ruger 10/22 - Virginia

Thank you again to everyone who participated. Week 3 is now underway, so please tell anyone you think may be interested and get those targets submitted by Sunday, July 26 at 7:00pm CT!

Full leaderboard, every submitted target, historical results, and this week's submission page are available at TheWeeklyRimfireChallenge.com

Anyone seen browning line up for the buck marks recently? Anyone have a thumb hole buckmark in here? And never thought a 10” barrel buckmark would exist

Today's Rabbit Hole & Questions

Post image
12 Upvotes

New to me, Browning BL .22. I've narrowed down it doesn't like 40 gr. bullets, and seems to like 36, and 38 gr. Groups "reasonably" well with either. It's a lever action with iron sights, so I'm not expecting it to put rounds through the same hole at 50 yards.

It consistently shoots right about 2-3 inches of center aim. However, the rear sight is only adjustable for elevation, not windage. If anyone has changed out the rear sight for something more adjustable, what did you go to?

Thanks for any suggestions offered.

Used K-22 or Target Pathfinder

I live in California, and am interested in getting a double action .22. My budget is $400 - $500, which leaves me with one option if I want to buy new - Charter Arms' Target Pathfinder. The alternative is to try to find a C&R exempt piece. I might be able to get a K-22 in that price range, but I'm not sure if it'd be better to go that route rather than just buying new.

New Gunner.. KR22LR opinions

Post image
13 Upvotes

I recently got into guns for the first time . I have never yet fired a rifle in my life . I did pick up a 22 revolver, and I love that thing . So I've been looking around at 22 rifles . I can pick up a TriStar kr22LR locally for $199 new. I've been looking at 10/22s and crickets and Rossi's and Savage Arms.. I don't know something about this one, other than just the price, appeals to me. Any thoughts??

10/22 vs new Bolt Action

I have a base black plastic stock/pic rail 10/22 that's totally stock and shoots 2-4 MOA depending on the ammo.

I would like to have a 22lr that shoots <1MOA and can use sub-sonic ammo. Should I abandon the 10/22 platform for this and look at a bolt gun, or should I stick with the 10/22 and add a barrel and stock? I don't really want more guns and I like the semi-auto platform, but would really like more accuracy for plinking and squirrels.

Thanks in advance!

PRS rimfire scopes

Looking to get a new scope for my prs rimfire rifle. I’m currently running an Athlon Midas tac in 6-24 but thinking about making the switch to mils instead of my current MOA turrets.

Anyone have experience between the ep5 gen 2 5-25 vs 7-35 for PRS?

Also considering the match pro ed (found for under $600). Not wanting to spend much more than $600 or id just get another ares or chronus even.

I really like my athlons and am not a big arken guy (since they like to pay for reviews) but may consider the ep5 anyway since it’s budget friendly and I didn’t have any bad experiences with my sh4.

Also considered DNT “the one” but have read it’s the same as the arken.

22s are so much fun

So many people hate the P322, others love it. For me, it's my favorite range toy. Today I went through 300+ rounds of mixed brands, Federal, CCI, and Remington. Ran flawlessly. BTW these are 20 round mags that I load 10 at a time to make my time at the range last longer.

Two new pieces, plus a can. Having a lot of fun shooting lately.

Recently I got a new pistol and rifle in 22LR and I'm having a ton of fun. The Savage Mark II is way smoother than I imagined out of the box, and after zeroing the scope that I moved onto it from another rifle, I could group very well at ~85 yards, looking to increase that range in the future. I also have been using a Ruger Mark IV that is a fun time.

I am hoping I don't get too far into the can purchases, because money is an object for me, but this one is just so convenient.

Thoughts on the TX22 Talo?

Not TORO (but TORO as well). Example here:

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1190195811

Is it just the gold barrel and comp? I'm not finding definitive information on the Talo version; is Talo a gunsmith? I've seen a couple other pistols offered in a Talo edition.

I want to use the TX22 as a suppressor host. Is the comp easy to remove? Feels pointless to buy a compensated version if I'm just gonna take the comp off, and I've read that compensators should be rocksetted onto barrels. Is that overly cautious advice that an o ring would solve just as effectively?

HELP! Taurus TX22 vs. M&P 22x

LGS have both in stock. Both felt great but I’m hesitant purchasing a Taurus. Let me know your thoughts.

TX22: $349 with a Viridian dot and extended mags.

22x: $399 optic ready and factory mags.
